What is Numerology?

The universe is full of mysteries. For thousands of years humans have looked for answers, hoping to unlock some of these mysteries. One way that people have sought to understand this world better is through numbers. Mathematicians from Pythagoras, to Fibonacci, to Isaac Newton have tried to make sense of the mechanics of our universe using numbers and math.

The study of numerology is one of the tools that we can use to better understand how our world works. 

Numerology is the study of numbers and their specific vibrations. It explores the influence of numbers on people and objects in the universe. It is considered a metaphysical science. The study of numerology goes back thousands of years, and has been explored by many  brilliant mathematicians.  In fact, tarot, astrology, and even the Hebrew Kabbalah have close links to modern numerology. 

Numerologists contend that numbers are more than just symbols for quantities. Numbers have their own vibrations, their own energy. Learning how to tap into that energy and use it for your highest good can guide you and help you make better, more informed choices in your life. Numbers may be influencing you more than you know. If you don’t understand their hidden power, you won’t be using their energy to your advantage. Once you learn how numbers can change your life for the better (or worse), you can begin to make positive changes. 

When you’re consciously working with the universe, it can guide you to places you only dreamed possible. 

Sounds complicated…

It may seem overwhelming to you, but in reality numerology is very easy to learn. Unlike astrology, that can be very complicated, basic numerology calculations can be learned quickly. This is great news, because it means you can start applying its principles to your life right away.  

Great. How do I get started? There are so. many. numbers. 

This is one of the great things about numerology. Only certain numbers have their own specific vibration and significance. Those numbers are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 22. 11 and 22 are considered master numbers (more on that later). Numerologists consider each of these numbers to have their own energy.  But, you might be thinking, there are way more numbers than that. Yes there are. Numerology breaks down the bigger numbers until they reach one of these numbers. For instance, say you want to look into numerology for your birthdate. Let’s further say your birthday is June 15, 1992. To find your Birth Date number add the digits, and keep adding them until you reach a final number. So – June 15, 1992 would be 6+1+5+1+9+9+2 = 33. Keep reducing – 3+3=6. So 6 would be your Birth Date number. You do this with any kind of number you want to analyze using numerology. Simply take the larger number, add the digits together, and keep doing so until you reduce it to a single digit (or 11 and 22). 

What’s a master number?

If your number reduces to an 11 or 22, that is said to be a master number. Individuals whose birth date reduces to either of these numbers are said to be blessed with special gifts of inspiration and leadership. However, their lives might be very challenging as well. Some examples of 11’s are Bill Clinton and Michael Jordan. Because of their intensified vibration,  master numbers radiate enormous potential. Such people may go on to lead extraordinary, yet sometimes difficult, lives. 

What kinds of things can I use numerology on? 

So glad you asked. Numerology can be used for so many things, from your birth date, your name, or even your address. Yes, before you move to your next house, use numerology on your potential new address. It will help guide you to a home that can help you achieve specific goals, whether they be for a peaceful family life, financial abundance, or many other things. 

Many people start with the example we used earlier, your birth date. This is also known as your Life Path number. It reveals your personality traits, what talents you may possess, and what kind of career suits you. It can also reveal lessons, challenges, and opportunities you chose for this lifetime. 

Another thing you can examine is your birth name. Each letter is given a numerical value. You simply add the numbers assigned to the letters in your name to determine your Personality Number. Here is the chart:

Be sure to use your full name when doing this exercise, including first, middle, and last. You Personality Number reveals aspects of your true nature and the way you instinctually behave. You might be skeptical at first, but try it and prepare to be amazed at its accuracy.

Besides the basic uses outlined here, they can also reveal much about your heart’s desire, karmic lessons, and things that you will experience in your life.
