What Are Chakras

Chakras are little energy stations for the physical body and the aura. When they are working properly, they absorb prana energy, or negative ions, from the universe. This energy is then utilized to keep us healthy and functioning like a well-oiled machine.

WHAT ARE CHAKRAS?

When chakras are clogged with positive ions, they cannot function and we get all out of whack. Physical and emotional problems can be brought on or exacerbated.

WHICH CHAKRAS DO WHAT?

There are seven major chakras that feed certain areas. They are actually located above your adrenal glands. The negative effects of a clogged and unbalanced chakra on your body depend on the chakra or chakras that are blocked.

1ST CHAKRA

Your root, base or 1st chakra is located at the lower tip of your tailbone. It regulates physical and spiritual energy. An imbalance in this chakra will cause you to feel lethargic and unenthusiastic. You will likely have difficulty relaxing and feel the need for constant stimulation. You may also suffer from lower back pain, leg pain and trouble with your immune system. You may feel a sort of disconnect from reality and find yourself feeling distant or not quite “there” in whatever you are doing. You will also feel a bit flighty. You could begin to question your beliefs, associates and friends. You will likely derive less enjoyment from physical pleasures.

2ND CHAKRA

Your navel, sacral or 2nd chakra is located 2 to 3 inches below your navel. It regulates the flow of physical and spiritual energy through the body and aura. It is your center of gravity and Life Force. The flow of information between your body and mind is controlled by this chakra. This is where the term “gut feeling” comes from. It is where intuitive feelings develop. An off-balance or clogged 2nd chakra will cause you to feel confused and overly dependent on others. You may repress your feelings and be unable to feel joy. A fear of sex and sensuality is common when this chakra is out of whack as well as feelings of bitterness and frustration.

3RD CHAKRA

The solar plexus or 3rd chakra is located 2 to 3 inches above your navel. It regulates your personal power, self-esteem and creativity. This chakra is also known as the power chakra. A sense of obligation and your desire to care for others flows from this chakra as well as courage and personal honor. It helps you feel centered. When this chakra is not working properly, you will experience digestive problems in general. Trouble in the areas of the intestines, gall bladder, liver, spleen and stomach are common. Weight issues and eating disorders could be attributed to this chakra. You might also suffer from low self-esteem, anxiety attacks, unreasonable fears and a feeling of intimidation.

4TH CHAKRA

Your heart chakra or 4th chakra is located at the center of your chest. It regulates your interactions with others. When this chakra is clear and balanced, you will have a better sense of what you should embrace or resist. It helps you interact with others in a healthy manner without getting too involved or being too aloof. When your heart chakra is not working properly, you will feel tension in your upper body, often sit with your arms folded across your chest and develop an aversion to hugs and handshakes. You may feel that you are being too controlling or that you are being controlled in a personal relationship. Excessively strong emotional reactions may occur. You may find yourself being easily annoyed by others and overly critical of them. Bronchitis, pneumonia, heart problems, lung cancer and breast cancer are commonly associated with a clogged and unbalanced heart chakra.

5TH CHAKRA

The throat or 5th chakra is located at the center of your throat. It regulates the flow of energy between all of the chakras. If it is blocked and unbalanced, the other chakras can be negatively affected. It can also make it difficult for you to express yourself clearly. You may feel fearful, have unreasonable doubts about the intentions of others, begin to lie often and stammer. Soar or raspy throat, gum problems, mouth ulcers, TMJ, laryngitis, scoliosis, thyroid problems and swollen glands are common physical health problems that are caused by a clogged and out-of-balance throat chakra.

6TH CHAKRA

Your brow, Third Eye or 6th chakra is located just above the root of the nose between your eyebrows. It regulates your awareness, consciousness and sight and controls how you perceive yourself. A healthy Third Eye helps you properly interpret impressions and data to determine what is and isn’t important. It also controls energy flow within your body. When your Third Eye is clogged and not working properly you lose perspective. Basic concepts no longer make sense, you feel confused and seem to be unable to see clearly. Your body and mind will be difficult to control. Headaches, ear aches and vision problems are common when this chakra isn’t clear and balanced. Strokes, brain tumors or hemorrhage, neurological problems, learning disabilities, seizures and spinal problems are associated with an improperly functioning Third Eye.

7TH CHAKRA

The crown or 7th chakra is located on the top of your head. It regulates how you think and respond to others and situations. Your belief system is rooted there. Balance and coordination in our bodies and energies depend on a clear and balanced crown chakra. An ability to handle setbacks in a healthy way, understanding that they are an important part of your life, comes from this chakra. If your crown chakra is not functioning properly you may become clumsy, uncoordinated and out of sorts in body and mind. You will lose confidence in yourself and have trouble comprehending ideas, dreams and relationships. Your musculoskeletal system and skin are affected by this chakra. You may experience paralysis, ALS, MS or bone cancer when this chakra is clogged and out of balance.
